The Magic of Fireworks

As the chill of autumn sets in and the nights grow longer, Southend-on-Sea transforms into a canvas of lights and colours. Each year, the City becomes a hub for spectacular firework displays, drawing locals and visitors alike to witness the bursts of colour. Whether you’re a lifelong resident or a first-time visitor, here’s why Southend’s fireworks are an event you won’t want to miss!

One of Southend’s Legendary Traditions

Southend City’s annual firework displays have become a tradition for local residents and visitors. This event runs every Saturday, from the end of September to the beginning of November, with many coming down for every display! This remarkable event has quickly become a beloved family favourite, creating lasting memories and a sense of community that resonates throughout the season.

Iconic viewing locations

There are many locations that will give the best view of the display, the top three for most visiting being:

• Adventure Golf – this location is directly opposite the launch site, with The Green takeaway right next door it’s the prime location to grab a cheeky hot drink and some freshly made donuts to keep warm!
• Sealife Adventure – right outside Sealife Adventure is another amazing viewing spot for the display. With the sea wall to take a seat and many local restaurants or takeaways close by serving delicious hot food and snacks to enjoy.
• Southend Pier lifts – With a large viewing platform, you can see for miles on the Southend Pier lift. This is a wonderful spot for any photographers getting the perfect shot, or anyone who would love a close up look with the viewing binoculars.

Supporting Local Businesses

Since 2023, Marc Miller and The Seaside Partnership came together to ensure this display can continue for many years to come. With many businesses sponsoring this year’s event, including the C2C Rail, Adventure Island, Kingpins Southend, Southend Council, the Southend City BID and the Essex Chambers of Commerce!

Alongside all events, this is a wonderful opportunity for all to show their support for Southend’s locally run businesses. As the evenings are getting cooler, grab a lovely cup of tea or coffee and enjoy the show!
